Divorce shakes nearly everything at once — your home, your finances, your faith, your future, and your relationship with your children.
Life at Dad’s House provides Christ-centered coaching and pastoral counseling for fathers navigating separation, divorce, custody conflict, co-parenting, and the rebuilding that comes after. This is a place to slow down, get grounded, and build a clear path forward.

[ BOOK A COACHING & COUNSELING SESSION ]
You’re trying to hold yourself together while still being the father your children need. You may be carrying:
The emotional and spiritual weight of divorce
Fear of losing time or connection with your kids
High-conflict communication with your co-parent
Anger, grief, anxiety, shame, or isolation
Confusion about parenting plans, GALs, and custody professionals
The pressure of knowing every decision matters
The struggle to rebuild your home and daily routines
The sense that nobody at church truly understands
You don’t need one more person telling you to calm down, pray harder, or move on.
You need someone who understands fatherhood, family conflict, emotional health, the
realities of divorce — and the heart of God.
It combines practical coaching, pastoral support, fatherhood education, and Christ-centered guidance. Depending on what you’re facing, our work may include:
Steadying yourself
Stabilizing your emotions during divorce or custody conflict
Identifying what is actually within your control
Recognizing destructive patterns before you react to them
Processing grief, anger, betrayal, fear, and disappointment
Protecting your fatherhood
Strengthening your relationship with your children
Creating a stable, welcoming home for them
Rebuilding routines after separation
Growing your confidence as a father
Moving forward
Developing healthier communication with your co-parent
Setting strong boundaries without creating unnecessary conflict
Preparing for hard conversations and transitions
Reconnecting your decisions to your faith
Building a realistic plan for the next stage of your life
This is not about helping fathers wage war against their former spouses. It is about helping fathers remain steady, faithful, emotionally disciplined, and deeply present for their children.
Most men don’t need another generic lecture about divorce. They need enough time to explain what’s actually happening, sort out what matters most, and leave with a practical direction.
Every private session includes:
A confidential 90-minute conversation — no rushing
Christian pastoral support and optional prayer
Practical coaching focused on your immediate concerns
Guidance grounded in fatherhood, emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, and
child development
Help separating urgent problems from emotional noise
Clear next steps you can start using immediately

Divorce doesn’t happen inside a classroom. It happens during tense text exchanges, sleepless nights, attorney meetings, parenting-time transitions, financial pressure, and the moments your children ask questions you don’t know how to answer.
Life at Dad’s House was created for those moments.
Divorce and Separation Accepting that the marriage has changed or ended. Processing
grief without collapsing into bitterness. Rebuilding your identity. Making wise decisions
during emotional upheaval.
Custody and Co-Parenting Communicating clearly with your children’s mother.
Responding instead of reacting. Understanding the roles of custody professionals. Staying
credible and emotionally steady under pressure.
Fatherhood in Two Homes Helping your children feel secure at Dad’s house. Building
meaningful routines and traditions. Parenting well with divided time. Protecting your kids
from loyalty conflicts.
Christian Faith During Divorce Wrestling honestly with God during loss. Understanding
grace, responsibility, and forgiveness. Setting boundaries without abandoning Christian
character. Leading your children spiritually through family change.
Life After Divorce Rebuilding your household. Establishing healthier habits and
relationships. Rediscovering purpose. Preparing wisely for whatever comes next — and
becoming the man this next chapter requires.
Divorce can leave Christian men feeling ashamed, rejected, or spiritually disqualified. Some withdraw from church because they believe everyone is judging them. Others stay in the pew and carry their pain silently.
Life at Dad’s House does not exist to excuse wrongdoing, condemn your former spouse, or
pretend every divorce has a simple explanation.
It exists to meet fathers inside the reality they are already living — telling the truth, taking responsibility where it belongs, extending grace without becoming passive, and moving forward without letting the divorce destroy your character.
Your marriage may have ended.
Your calling as a father has not. Your relationship with God has not. Your opportunity to lead your children well has not.
Chaplain Jason M. Whitaker is the founder of Life at Dad’s House and the author of Life at Dad’s House: The Single Father’s Guide to Raising Kids After Divorce.
His work draws on training and experience in Christian chaplaincy and pastoral care, mental-health coaching, father engagement, child development, trauma-informed care, adverse childhood experiences, marriage and family education, high-conflict co-parenting, and the principles behind Guardian ad Litem work and parenting coordination.
Jason is also a divorced father who understands the emotional, spiritual, and practical realities of raising children across two homes.
His approach is direct, compassionate, child-centered, and grounded in Christian responsibility. He will not encourage you to obsess over defeating your former spouse. He will help you become harder to destabilize, better prepared to lead, and more capable of giving your children the father they need.
